Wooden Gun Storage Box

This project uses Walnut, Cherry, and Maple. The bulk of the box is made from Cherry including the sides and bottom. I use mitered corners on the box. I then use Maple for the lid with a Cherry stripe in the middle. I glue everything together including the lid onto the box. I then cut corner splines on the box and glue strips of Dark Walnut into the splines. After the glue has dried, I cut the lid off. I use Kaizen Foam on the interior of the box and cut out an outline of my firearm and magazine. I decided to use brass hinges and latch hardware for this project. The project gets finished with 2 coats of Tung Oil and 2 coats of Shellac.
