Welcome To My Shop

Rocky River Woodworks began in 2018 as my hobby. Located in Midland, North Carolina, the pine trees and various creeks and rivers lead to the name of the brand. My shop is located on property that abuts the Rocky River, a commonly known river throughout this part of the state. When my shop was started, I wanted a clever name that represented the brand and location. Rocky River Woodworks fit the build perfectly.

Our Story

My Story

Since 2018 I have entertained many aspects of woodworking. I started the hobby making ink pens and small wooden bowls on the lathe. I then moved to making small wooden boxes. I was in a space that was half of a two-car garage. I would get requests from friends and family to make large projects but was ultimately limited on what I could build because of the size of space I was working in. Many times on the weekends when my wife was at work (her car was out of the garage), I would roll my machines and tools out into the driveway in order to have room to build the large projects I had on the docket.

In 2019 I decided it was time to have my own, dedicated shop. Somewhere that would house all of my tools, machines, supplies, and more. Also somewhere that would not get sawdust all over my wife’s car in the garage. So, my dad and I built my now workshop. I work in a 25’ x 50’ dedicated, detached shop behind my home. Having a dedicated shop space allows me to arrange work benches, machines, compressors, dust collectors, etc. accordingly; in a way that doesn’t require me to move them around every time I want to work on a larger project.

Once my shop was finished, I started making bigger projects that required more time and space. Around this time is when I started making YouTube videos of the projects I made. I also started making videos of tips, tricks, “hacks”, and more…pretty much anything I learned that I thought could help someone else learn. I then began expanding my tool/machine inventory to include larger tools and tools with more technology. The technology-based tools include a CNC router, laser cutter/engraver, and vinyl plotter. These tech tools allowed my skillset to grow and expanded my product and service offering to include signs, customization, and more.

Today I mainly make projects for the sake of YouTube and online content. However, I still make custom and commissioned projects when able. I do have a full-time job besides my wood shop and other hobbies outside of woodworking that take my time as well.

Anyway, I hope you can find some value in the articles, videos, social media posts, and comments I provide on this site as well as my YouTube channel.
